I recorded this in 2000-01. Back then I put it on some CDRs and gave it to a handful of friends. I was 19-20 or so and was really excited just to be able to record sounds and share them. After this I got into the world of playing in bands and this kind of mucking about fell into the background for a long time. I thought I had lost this music for over a decade, but recently found a copy and thought I may as well put it up here for its 20th anniversary/my 40th birthday.

The music here was mostly made with an old rack unit sampler triggered by hand with a Casio keyboard, and was recorded on a Tascam 488 8-track. Some of the samples are field recordings, but most came from my record collection, which was probably a couple hundred records at the time. I've made an effort to identify some of the samples in the track notes.

Consider this an archival release, so I don't lose it again. In the interest of historical accuracy, it's presented here as I "released" it back then, warts and all, perhaps mostly warts - lots of sample based instrumental weirdness, with a few songs sprinkled here and there. I would charitably describe most of the vocals here as "mewling", but am otherwise pleasantly surprised by what I hear.

Hopefully there is a charm to be found in my earnest, youthful experiments. Have a listen if you're curious what I was doing before I was in any serious bands. I'll put out some actual new music later this year too.
